I decided to pick out some products to focus on this season. I don’t usually care whether a particular shade coordinates with the season, but I wanted to try something different this year. This assortment went in a somewhat monochromatic direction, which is a look I don’t mind. But I’ll see how long it lasts before I want to swap any of these out.
Foundation – Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer (WN 82 Latte)
For my dry skin, this is the best-looking finish on my skin that I have come across. The brand claims a natural matte finish, which I always assume means satin, and I would agree with that. I have no issues with wear time, but due to my dry skin, I hardly ever do. While it does last throughout the day, it is not transfer-proof or resistant. I have worn it on its own, but it transfers easily. So I prefer to set it with powder. The powders that I do not find to change the beautiful finish are the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural and the now discontinued MAC Next to Nothing Powder. However, any setting powder you prefer will work if you do not mind a more matte finish. This foundation is one of my favorites that I have been using it for over two years now and have repurchased it.
The Macy’s 10 Days of Glam continues today with the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick on sale for $23.50. This foundation has a beautiful natural satin finish on my dry skin type. I do use heavy oil-based moisturizers, so that may make a difference. It has medium coverage that I’d say is slightly buildable to full. I do have some hyperpigmentation and acne scars that it doesn’t completely cover. I don’t have an issue with that, but I wanted to mention it since the brand claims it has medium to full coverage.
Lancome is a brand that always manages to draw me in. The packaging on some of the products can feel cheap for the price point, but the quality of the products themselves is always top-notch.
Despite being excellent quality, I don’t hear much about these eyeshadows. They are easy to use, they blend well, and no excess powder kicks up when using them. I have never noticed any issues with fallout. They are easy to sheer out if you like a light wash of color or build up if you need or want color intensity. The most comparable formula I can think of is the bareMinerals Gen Nude Eyeshadow formula. They are not hard to pick up on a brush, but they are not dry shadows.
